Introduction
Would you like your child to have the confidence and skills to ride their bike safely on the road? If so, then our Bikeability course could be ideal for them.
Bikeability is today’s cycle training programme. It’s about gaining practical skills and understanding how to cycle on modern roads.
The course is designed to give children, who haven’t been able to access training via their school, the opportunity to attend training at weekends or during school holidays.
Who is it for?
Bikeablity training is suitable for children aged 9 years+ who can confidently ride a bike.
Course description
Our Bikeability course includes Level 1 & 2 training.
- Bikeability Level 1 aims to develop cycle handling in an off-road environment and prepare riders for cycling on the road. Riders must be able to cycle (i.e. pedal and glide) to participate in Bikeability Level 1.
- Bikeability Level 2 will develop riders’ skills and confidence for cycling on single-lane roads and simple junctions with mostly moderate motor traffic flows, preparing riders to deal with short journeys such as cycling to school or the local shops.
The course is 6 hour long with training split over two days (3 hours on each day). All training is delivered by professional national cycle instructors who have attended first aid and safeguarding training and have undertaken a DBS check. The course is delivered in groups with a ratio of 2 instructor to a maximum of 12 children.
